Letter? Let her do what?
An Open Letter to Idaho Pun Fans:
I regret to say that at this time I have chosen to cancel the remainder of the 2023 Idaho Pun Slam season.
I love this event and the community it has brought together. I’ve seen people come up with some truly brilliant puns on our stage, and furthermore, grow confident in their public speaking. I’ve connected with audience members who choose the Idaho Pun Slam as their go-to night out time and again. The venues are always accommodating and generous in their service. It’s all of you that have made this project so rewarding.
At this time, I feel called to step away from this project in order to focus on other creative endeavors; mainly, fulfilling my duties as the managing director of The Boise Bard Players, a non-profit theatre company. Trying to run two entertainment businesses has been taxing, and unfortunately one has to take a backseat for the time being.
But this is not the end! This time away is an incubation period. When I feel called back to the Idaho Pun Slam (and I will), I suspect I will be licensing the event to venues and booking private and corporate slams… Stay tuned.
Thank you for a great run. See you soon.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Eller

WHAT IS A PUN SLAM?
A pun slam is a comedic wordplay competition for word nerds consisting of three rounds, ten contestants, and dozens of puns. Contestants go up one-by-one to give their best puns on a random topic. Each set can be no longer than two minutes. After scoring the first two rounds, the top two punsters go head-to-head in a final pun-off.

HERE'S HOW IT PLAYS OUT...

ROUND ONE
One by one, 10 contestants have two minutes each to make puns based on prompts they have received ahead of time. Each contestant is judged by five randomly chosen audience members. Judges rank each puntestant on a scale of 1-10.
ROUND TWO
All puntestants compete in Round 2. This time contestants get their prompts at the beginning of our 10 minute intermission and another two minutes to make puns.

ROUND THREE
The top two contestants go head-to-head in a final pun-off on a new prompt. The winner walks away with free beer, and a puntastic prize.
